What this site stores, and why
This site stores as little as it can. Some of it is needed for the site to work at all; the rest is analytics, and none of that happens unless you agree to it.
The ones that are needed
These keep the site working and cannot be turned off. They remember which language you are reading, keep your session while you are here, and stop another site from submitting the contact form in your name. None of them follow you anywhere, and none are shared with anyone.
The ones that are not
This site uses Google Analytics, through Google Tag Manager, to count visits and see which pages get read. It tells me that a page was opened, roughly from where, and what was read next. It does not tell me who you are, and nothing you typed into the contact form is ever sent to it.
None of it starts until you press Accept. Until then the tags load in a mode that sets no cookies at all, and if you press Decline they stay in it. That is not a promise made only in writing: the instruction is in the page itself, above the tags, so it applies before they can do anything.
What the contact form keeps
If you write to me, what you send is saved as well as e-mailed, so that an enquiry is never lost to a mail failure. That is your name, your e-mail address, your phone number if you gave one, and your message. It is kept until it has been dealt with, it is used for nothing but replying to you, and it is never passed on.
What is stored
| Name | What it is for | Kept for |
|---|---|---|
| locale | Remembers which language you are reading, so the next visit does not send you to the other one. | One year |
| backstage-session | Holds your session while you are on the site. The contact form cannot work without it. | Until the browser closes |
| XSRF-TOKEN | Stops another site submitting the contact form as you. | Until the browser closes |
| cookie-consent | Your answer to the banner. Stored in the browser and never sent anywhere — not to me either. | Until you clear it |
| _ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics. Counts a visit and recognises a returning browser. Set only after you accept. | Two years |
Changing your mind
You can change your answer whenever you like, and you do not have to accept anything to read the site — every page works the same either way.
The button below forgets what you chose and asks again. Clearing your browser data has the same effect, and so does opening the site in a private window.
